Your new partial represents a serious investment in restoring the full function of your mouth. Including it as part of your daily oral hygiene routine will help it last for a long time to come.

Many people that use a partial prefer to secure it in place with a little denture adhesive. This give the unit a firm fit, while also helping to keep food particles from working their way between the partial and your gums. If you do have some food particles stuck near your gums, you should rinse all of the adhesive away and reapply.

When you take the partial out at night you should give it a thorough rinse to remove food particles, plaque and any residual denture adhesive. This will keep the unit clean and provide you with a clean surface the next morning.

You should then brush it with a soft bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste or denture polish. When you are not wearing your partial you should soak it in water and keep it in a safe place.

Once the partial is cleaned and put away, you should brush and floss the rest of your teeth just as you would as a normal part of your daily hygiene regimen. Be sure to floss in the gum line around all of your teeth, especially the teeth neighboring the partial.
