Your dentists, Dr. Steven Rattner & Associates, strongly encourage you to brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Brushing can help you have a strong and healthy smile and oral health and it can help you prevent many dental issues, especially cavities and periodontal disease. It’s very important to remember to brush often. If you tend to forget to brush, our dentist is happy to help you remember by encouraging you to do the following things:

-Set a reminder for yourself: Reminders can always help you get things done. So, set a twice-daily reminder in your phone, write “Brush your teeth” on a sticky note and stick it to the bathroom mirror, or write a reminder on the calendar hanging on your wall.

-Keep your toothbrush where you can see it: Instead of putting your toothbrush in the bathroom cupboard or drawer, keep it out by the sink in its own little toothbrush holder. If your toothbrush is out where you can see it, you will be reminded to brush each time you visit the restroom or wash your hands.

-Keep your toothbrush handy: Keeping your toothbrush in your backpack, briefcase or purse can remind you to brush your teeth because you’ll see it each time you sift through your bag. Just make sure to keep a toothbrush cover on it while it’s put away.
