The question is often asked, does fluoride help or hurt our bodies? Fluoride is a mineral found in bodies of water all across the planet, but it has recently come to the attention of many people due to its inclusion in many consumer products. Studies have linked fluoride to various oral health benefits including the ability to protect our teeth by strengthening our tooth enamel and preventing further harm.

Fluoride can be found in a multitude of products. It has been added to the public water supply, many brands of toothpaste, various forms of dental mouth cleansers and mouthwash products, as well as in supplement form. You can also visit your dentist for a professional fluoride treatment to help keep your teeth strong and clean.

If you wish to take fluoride in supplement form, be careful not to take too much, as high levels of fluoride can be toxic. Thus, never give fluoride to children unless instructed to or administered by your dentist. If you do wish to take a fluoride supplement for yourself, it can be taken as a pill, drop, lozenge, or as tablets.
